The Birthday Project MI provides custom Birthday Boxes for children across Metro Detroit whose families are struggling to afford a celebration. Each Box is filled with everything a parent needs to make their child's Birthday special.

It's to help YOU become theirs.Birthday Boxes aren't meant to be handed directly to your child. They're meant to be opened by you. The wrapping paper, decorations, cake supplies, gift, and activity are all individual pieces for you to turn into a birthday celebration.We want your child to wake up and see the decorations YOU hung. Open the present YOU wrapped. Blow out the candles YOU lit.Because every child deserves to be celebrated by the people who love them most.YOU are the superhero. We're just here to hand you the cape.

Frequently asked question
What's Included in a Birthday Box? A gift, cake and candles, decorations, an activity for the family to do together, plates, napkins, and eating utensils (if necessary), wrapping paper, and tape.
Who can request a Birthday Box? You may qualify if: Your child is between 1 and 18 years old, their birthday is within the next 2 months, you live in Metro Detroit, you're experiencing financial hardship or another circumstance that makes celebrating difficult, and you are able to provide proof of your child's birthday and residency.
How far in advance should I apply? Requests are only accepted for the month following the current. If your child's birthday is not next month, your request will not be processed.
What counties are included in Metro Detroit? Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne.
Can I request Boxes for more than one child? Yes. Please submit a separate request for each child. In the case of twins, only one request is necessary.
What if I miss the deadline? We cannot guarantee processing of your request if it is submitted late.
Who will deliver my Box? Birthday Boxes are delivered by a team of volunteers. All deliveries are intended to be contactless, and the safety of our volunteers is paramount. Please do not approach your delivery driver. If you have questions regarding your Box, please reach out using the number we contacted you from.
